Soldier Arrested For Breaking Quarantine

A soldier is arrested for being in illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and breaking quarantine.

On Friday, during an Operation Strike Back 3 exercise, police officers stopped a silver-coloured Mazda 3 motor vehicle in Mt Lambert. A search was conducted and officers found and took possession of a firearm equipped with a selector and fitted with one magazine containing 17 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The suspect, an active member of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force was arrested and taken to the San Juan Sub-Station.

A subsequent search was conducted at his residence located Stratham Lodge Road, St Augustine, where the officers found and seized two rounds of 9mm ammunition.

During the search, the officers found one quarantine order for 14 days from the Ministry of Health County Medical Office of Health Victoria, San Fernando Office dated May 19, in the name of the suspect.

The exercise was spearheaded by acting ACP Andy Belfon, acting Snr Supt Winston Maharaj, ASP Pariman and Insp Bharath, coordinated by acting Sgt Martin and supervised by Cpl Daniel and acting Cpl Duncan and included other officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force.
