IF the Opposition Members of Parliament had attended parliamentary sessions in April, MP for Oropouche West Davendranath Tancoo would have had answers regarding money spent on floodgates.

Tancoo in a press release on Thursday again challenged Minister of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan to explain how $30million allocated to alleviate flooding in Trinidad and Tobago were spent.

In February this year, Tancoo submitted  questions to the minister asking that he provide a status update on three floodgates in his constituency.

According to Tancoo, these questions were supposed to have been answered on April 9.  Parliament was advised that the responses to the questions were prepared and the government was ready to answer but failed to do so, because the Opposition MPs did not attend Parliament due to Covid related concerns.

Sinanan told AZPNews.com on Friday, “If MP Tancoo had attended Parliament on the day the answer was prepared for him, he would not have been making these statements today. However, he and his colleagues decided to stay away. He is free to ask these questions again in the Parliament and I look forward to answering them for him.”

The minister said he already had his answers prepared for Parliament and therefore  could not reveal any further information.
