Rio Claro Man to be Sentenced for Shotgun, Ammo

A 61-year-old Rio Claro man will be sentenced on July 31, after he appeared in court charged with possession of firearm and ammunition.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that officers carried out an anti-crime exercise between 1 pm and 4 pm, on July 27, when they arrested Jeffrey Sydney.

They executed a search warrant for firearm and ammunition at the elderly man’s home in San Pedro Road, where they found one homemade shotgun loaded with one round of 12-gauge cartridge.

Sydney was detained and later charged by acting Corporal Denoon.

He appeared in the Rio Claro Magistrates’ Court on July 28, where he pleaded guilty to the offences.

The operation was coordinated by acting Senior Superintendent Aguilal and supervised by acting Sergeant Maharaj.

It also involved members of the Criminal Investigations Department Task Force and the Emergency Response Patrol.
