IN a day of total football madness Brazil and Portugal lost, Uruguay were kicked out and Switzerland overcame Serbia in a thrilling encounter.
It was a fitting end to one of the most unpredictable World Cups so far in history. Seeded and powerful teams were destroyed by weaker teams. Even Brazil could not go undefeated as they fell to Cameroon. This is the first World Cup I can remember where no team in the first round won all their matches.

Brazil 0 vs Cameroon 1
In another shock, Brazil fell to African opposition in a World Cup for the first time in their history. Cameroon are the only African team that can lay claim to beating both Argentina and Brazil at the World Cup.
Vincent Aboubakar (90th +2) stole the shoe with a sumptuous goal that brought Brazil a defeat in this tournament. Brazil outplayed Cameroon for most of the game and had 21 shots at goal with seven on target. They had 65% of the possession, but this World Cup has shown that possession does not equal a win.
Switzerland 3 vs Serbia 2
In the most thrilling game of the day, Switzerland came out on top and moved into the next round. Xherdan Shaqiri opened the scoring in the 20th for Switzerland, then in the 26th Aleksandar Mitrovic equalized and in the 35th Dusan Vlahovic put Serbia in the lead. Breel Emobolo equalized for Switzerland in the 44th and Remo Freuler scored the winner in the 48th.
This placed Switzerland in the second round and hopefully, they will play such attractive football in the rest of the tournament.

Uruguay 2 vs Ghana 0
Uruguay had a better match against Ghana than I thought they would and easily got past the Africans. Giorgian De Arrascaeta (26th and 32nd) scored both goals that provided the win and almost pushed Uruguay in to the next round. Ghana had 10 shots at goal with four on target but no goals to show. Uruguay pressed for a third when they realized that the impossible was happening in the other math and South Korea were leading Portugal. This led to a serious issue after the game chasing the referee in the tunnel after the game.
South Korea 2 vs Portugal 1
In another shocker, South Korea beat Portugal in added on time to qualify and knock Uruguay out of the world cup. They only had 38% of the possession but had the two goals. This has been a feature of the Asian sides this world cup- taking their chances when it counts.
Hwang Hee-Chan scored the winner in the 90th +1 minute after Cristiano Ronaldo turned his back on the ball and allowed Hee-chan the opportunity to score. Things seemed normal when in the 5th minute Ricardo Horta placed Portugal on top. Young Kim equalized in the 27th minute and South Korea pressed until the end for an equalizer.
