A 26-YEAR-OLD man from Point Fortin has been charged with burglary and larceny following investigations of robberies in the district.
Police reported that on October 16, around 1.40 pm, a 39-year-old man parked his blue Nissan Almera vehicle at Spring Trace, Warden Road, Point Fortin, by a friend. He returned around 2 pm and discovered his vehicle missing.
Later that same day at approximately 9 pm, a 79-year old woman of South Central, Main Road, Point Fortin, secured her premises and retired to bed.
Sometime later, three men broke into her home, bound her hands with tie straps and covered her face. The men ransacked her bedroom and then left her home. When the woman broke free, she discovered $1,000 missing from her purse and the keys to her Nissan Bluebird Sylphy. She contacted the Point Fortin Police Station.
Investigations into the two incidents led to the arrest of Shem Charles, of Techier Village, Point Fortin. He was scheduled to appear before a Point Fortin Magistrate on Friday. Investigators are searching for the other suspects.
