THE People’s National Movement Women’s League says that Hazel Brown paved the way for a plethora of women’s rights activists and laid the foundational structure for social activism in Trinidad and Tobago.

In a release on Friday, it stated that Brown was a consummate advocate for gender equality.

It stated, “Ms Brown’s passion for advocacy, her determination and outspokenness against the trampling of rights, protection of women and consumer rights, remains the template by which other organisations have followed.

“It is because of Ms. Brown’s resilience , strength, aplombness , and genuinity that social activism has manifested in T&T.

“Organisations such as the T&T Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Rape Crisis Centre and others were able to grow because of the charge led by Ms. Brown. A fearless warrior, an empowering soul, Ms. Brown touched the lives of many through her works.”
