THE People’s National Movement (PNM) National Women’s League is labelling Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Energy Minister Stuart Young as heroes for the Dragon gas deal.

In a release on Wednesday, the Women’s League stated, “We thank them profusely for their foresight, steadfastness, competence and hard work as we mark this significant step in the Dragon gas project. In a geopolitical climate of fear and uncertainty, they both remained courageous and unwavering in their selfless commitment to our beloved country.

“In every sense of the word, they are heroes to all of us and history will record them as such.”

The statement comes after the announcement by Young on Tuesday that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States Treasury Department amended the license, for the development of the Venezuelan Dragon gas field.

The license will run for a two-year period, until October 31, 2025, permits T&T to pay for the gas in fiat currency, US dollars, Bolivars and via humanitarian means.

The league stated, “It is a proud moment and it augurs a brighter future for generations to come.”
