CITIZENS are leaving this tropical island to hide in the snow.

This is the statement of political leader of the Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP) Phillip Edward Alexander in a release on Saturday.

He said, “People have left the comfort of the tropics to hide in the snow just to escape this place. Adults here have one of the worst qualities of life in the world.

“Family life and community life are things we reminisce about.

“One third of housing costs are spent correcting government’s failure to secure the nation, steward the economy, manage the society, and provide water. Besides racism, what could be one good reason to support either of those parties?”

He said allegations that members of the government or the opposition might be involved in human trafficking was a “damning revelation” that citizens have to endure in a slow descent to hell.

Alexander added, “Criminologists, attorneys of note, international journalists all tell that the drug trade that passes through Trinidad & Tobago has been facilitated by politicians for decades.”

He said a former minister of finance revealed that an ex-prime minister confided that people high in society and big business were responsible for organised crime and the names would shock her.

Alexander said, “Both the Justice Judith Jones and Michal Sabga committee reports tell a disgusting tale of minor wards of the state being groomed for the sexual appetites of office holders.

“How much more do we need to hear to compound what we already see and surmise, that the PNM and UNC are responsible for the destruction of this once beautiful and booming paradise?

“How much more do you need to know before you turn your backs on them in shame? Gene Miles, Selwyn Richardson and Dana Seetahal were all assassinated to protect that corruption. 1990’s attempted coup was to overthrow the government that was trying to undo all of it, facilitated again by high office holders and persons well placed in society.”

He said people were searching for silver linings daily to justify a decision to remain in T&T

Alexander said the while the middle class was evaporating, the lowest class was bordering on destitution and people were choosing crime to survive.

He said, “What do we need to see again before we say enough? Politics is the science of choosing our leadership.

“How could any of what takes place in that Parliament be considered leadership?

“Even our anti corruption laws are corrupted. We know the truth. Failure to act on it is to consign ourselves and our loved ones to further misery. It is time to choose better.

“To vote ourselves freedom, security, peace and prosperity.”

Alexander said that the PEP was built up solid from the ground on policies that everyone agreed were doable and would fix this country.
