PARENTS are purchasing school uniforms in bulk at Charran’s Book Store in Chaguanas for the full reopening of schools on April 19.

The office manager of Charran’s Bookstore in Chaguanas Caroline Maharaj told AZP NEWS on Tuesday sales were much better and the store was busy due to the reopening of schools.

Maharaj said, “Parents are coming in and buying up to five uniforms with pants and shirts, and even three overalls and five shirts.

“Uniform sales and stationery sales have increased tremendously, however parents aren’t really purchasing much school books right now.”

She said that despite the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, Charran’s never let workers go but instead gave everyone an additional day off when operations had slowed to ensure they all would have a livelihood.

Maharaj said, “Since we reopened in June 2021, all staff have been working. And for this period that school was reopening, we hired a few more staff to help with the crowd.”

She said Charran’s reopened they hired more workers so there were approximately 30 employees at the Chaguanas store at the moment.

She added the children who wrote this year’s Secondary Entrance Examinations (SEA) upon their results would need textbooks for Form One and was optimistic that Charran’s would have a better book season.
