New Electronic Inspection System for Vehicles Coming

THERE is soon to be an Electronic Vehicle Inspection System (EVIS) as part of the digital transformation of the Licensing Division.

On Friday, the launch of the new system is expected to take place at Sookhai’s Diesel Service Ltd (SDSL), IDC Industrial Estate, Biljah Road Extension, Charlieville, Chaguanas.

SDSL is the first vehicle inspection station to be registered in Trinidad and Tobago.

Minister of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan is expected to attend the launch.

In a media release from the ministry on Thursday, the ministry stated, “This new system forms part of the digital transformation of the Licensing Division with the integration of technology to improve the delivery of services.”

The objective of the Electronic Vehicle Inspection System (EVIS) is to ensure that all vehicles are safe to operate on the nation’s roads, contributing to a safer transportation network, the ministry stated while aiming to achieve increased accountability, enhanced transparency, greater efficiency and more accuracy. 

Benefits of the new Electronic Vehicle Inspection System include:

  •  An improved electronic record system (data validation);

  • A secure data centre for storing all inspection transactions;

  •  Real-time access to information shared among the police, licensing officers, traffic enforcement officers and approved garages; and

  • Timely Reporting
