FOR some farmers within the Felicity area, accessing their agricultural plots is now impossible due to the poor road conditions.

On Thursday, Member of Parliament for Couva North, Ravi Ratiram met with representatives from the National Gas Company (NGC), farmers and other Constituency office staff to examine the road conditions at the agricultural plots located off Factory Road.

In a Facebook live, Ratiram showed the conditions in which farmers had to traverse in order to access their plots.

The roads were drenched with water and mud which he described as a natural watercourse due to no drainage and improper roadways.

Ratiram said, “Farmers were left to purchase rubble to upfill the area. Therefore, we are asking NGC for assistance in the construction of the roadways and watercourses.”

He also called on the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries for quick intervention to assist farmers.

Later on, Minister Clarence Rambharat told AZPNews.com via WhatsApp that the Ministry’s County Office was a short distance from Factory Road.
