A one-year programme in mas design and construction starts on February 6.
It is being conducted by Caribbean Yard Campus and is titled Earth to Sky: Mas Design, Construction and Performance.
A release on Monday stated that this was a unqiue programme certified by the National Training Agency of Trinidad and Tobago.
It stated, “With the objectives of certifying experienced mas practitioners, as well as introducing newcomers to the art and industry of mas, the programme offers workshops in mas-making crafts, performance traditions and creative presentation, the business of mas, and the staging of practical projects.
“Teachers, artists, band leaders, as well as veteran mas-makers have benefitted from earlier cycles of this programme, now in it’s 4th year.”
The 2021 cycle will be offered, mainly virtually with some restricted contact classes, in three sessions – Dry Season (April-June), Mango Season (July-August), Rainy Season (October-December), the release noted.
Caribbean Yard Campus a community-based organisation dedicated to the transformation of regional education and development through the use of traditional knowledges, the release stated.
