COVID-19 patients who are still suffering from the effects of Long Covid can get a Covid-19 vaccine after three months of contracting the virus once approved by medical personnel.

This is according to Head Nurse at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility Jaime Charles.

Charles spoke on the effect of Long Covid during the Ministry of Health’s virtual media conference on Saturday.

She said, “We do see a lot of patients in the hospital with pre-morbid conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, renal disease and what have you. Once those persons are cleared by the medical officers, they can take a vaccine within three months after infection.”

Charles encouraged vaccination against Covid-19 as she said it was one of the most effective methods of combating the virus.

She also reminded the public to continue social distancing, washing or sanitising hands and wearing the mask to reduce to spread.
