WEST INDIES cricket legend Brian Lara is now the head coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Lara, who had been with the SRH camp in this year’s edition of 2022 Indian Premier League, as also the franchise’s Strategic Advisor and Batting Consultant since 2021.
This will be Lara’s first stint as a coach of a T20 team. He takes over from former head coach Australian Tom Moody.
“The cricketing legend Brian Lara will be our head coach for the upcoming #IPL seasons,” SRH tweeted on Saturday.
The Sunrisers finished eighth in the 2022 and the 2021 edition of the IPL.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have made it to the IPL playoffs in six of the 10 seasons, since 2013 being champions in 2016 and runners-up in 2018.
Last month, for India’s Independence Day, Lara posted on Facebook, “To be embraced by a country that has 1.3 billion people fills me up with humility. To all Indians, I feel very honored every time I set foot in your country, the love is immeasurable.”
