He appeared on a video on Facebook with a plaster on the right side of his face.

Persad said, “I just get a slap and then he take a beer bottle and break it on my face here and I get cut up all over and I remember I was on the ground, I watch up and they just beating me. They stamp up my head, my belly, my back, my everything. They beat me real bad, about six of them. For the love of chutney eh.”

In another post, Persad jocularly sang the reason why he was beaten. He has filed a report with the Hollywood Police Department in Broward County.

Persad won the Chutney Soca Monarch in 2012, 2014 and 2016.
