Illegal Connections: Las Lomas Residents Charged

TEN Las Lomas residents have been charged for illegal electricity connections. 

They were charged on Friday  for offences under the Electricity Commissions Act after illegal electricity connections were found at several homes in the area.

A Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) media release on Saturday stated that an exercise conducted between the hours of 5 am and 9 am on Friday led officers to Harrynath Trace off Chin Chin Road, Las Lomas No. 1.  

While there, they observed several homes illuminated with electricity. However, their connections were illegal and posed a hazard.

Approximately 30 homes were checked, and all illegal connections were disconnected.  

Ten persons were arrested and taken to the Chaguanas Police Station and were subsequently charged.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Simon, Supts Montrichard and Gyan, and ASP Dipchand.  

It was headed by Sgt Modeste and included personnel of the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) under the supervision of W/E Sgt Ali-Jacob and officers attached to the Central Division Task Force – Area North.
