THE people of Trinidad and Tobago want more than just the politics between the People’s National Movement (PNM) and the United National Congress (UNC).

“They want new, fresh, bright, strong, capable, but they want it for free,” says political leader of the Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP) Phillip Edward Alexander.

Alexander issued a statement entitled “Political Groundhog Day” on Thursday.

He said, “The Progressive Empowerment Party that has the strongest policies for change and most capable leadership has the least money to swing elections or to buy up the media needed for brainwash, and as long as those voting are willing to eat today and let the devil take tomorrow, groundhog day will continue.”

“Trinidad could fix. We simply have to want it enough to vote for it,” Alexander said.

Citizens have all seen failed attempts to oust the PNM out of office by the UNC with many allegations of corruption hanging over its head, he added.

With an enshrined belief that the UNC was as corrupt or even more corrupt than the PNM has left the mass of non-aligned voters disconnected Alexander said.

According to Alexander from the UNC’s point of view, “no attempts must be made other than to help the country appear even more of a disaster, hopefully frightening the public into taking a chance.”

He said, “Capability to deliver ‘a lil more’ has not been enough. More classrooms but less education, more hospitals but less health care, boasting that your 400 murders was less than 500 murders has not been enough to cement the UNC as an option, and their stand down policy has backfired, making even their die-hard supporters disenchanted with their failure to do anything at all.”

Alexander continued his criticism of the UNC saying that outside of attorney Anand Ramlogan and his court victories, no one else in the UNC has ever captured the public’s attention and “master showman” Gary Griffith was confusing persons into thinking he was capable with public opinion swinging from him being the best of all the bad  Police Commissioners.
