Flooding in POS

THE city of Port-of-Spain is once again experiencing flooding on the streets.

There are reports that Woodbrook and Morvant are also experiencing flooding.

The Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government in a social media post stated that it has received reports from Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

The ministry stated that for information on sandbags and emergency shelters as well as relief assistance following instances of flooding, fallen trees, landslips and other disasters,  people should contact their municipal corporation.

Earlier today the Met Office issued an adverse weather alert stating there was a 70% high chance of heavy showers and thunderstorms can lead to the threat of isolated flash flooding events that may cause temporary traffic disruptions.

Gusty winds may be experienced in the vicinity of heavy downpours. Frequent lightning activity will accompany thunderstorms.

Port-of-Spain Mayor Joel Martinez told AZPNews.com that he was not aware of any major reports of flooding but he will be monitoring the situation.
