The Czech Republic entered the game in first position and ended in third.

Such was the competitive nature of Group D. In an exciting encounter Raheem Sterling’s 12th minute header was the difference. Gareth Southgate added speed and purpose with the 19-year-old Bukayo Saka. He is a wonderful find for England and looks like a playmaker who has a long career ahead of him.

Czech Republic 0 vs England 1

Wembley Stadium

The Czech Republic tried to get the goal to top the group but were not able to score. They had 43% possession, seven shots at goal but only one on target.  England had five shots at goal and three on target.

England’s main problem is the lack of goals. So far only Sterling has been able to find the net and in three games Harry Kane has fired blanks.

Croatia vs Scotland

22/06/21

Score 3- 1 for Croatia

Hampden

In the more exciting game where both teams were fighting for survival and qualification to the Round of 16, Croatia pulled off a win to advance as the second qualifier.

Nikola Vlasic 17th minute strike for Croatia was cancelled by Callum Mc Gregor in the 42nd minute.  The Croatian talisman Luka Modric had a wonderful strike in the 62nd and Ivan Perisic completed the victory in the 77th minute. Both teams had 11 shots at goal with Croatia having six on target to Scotland’s three.

Scotland are a good team and had lots of fight in this group, they were no pushovers and took each team to the brink. Well done Scotland, hope to see you again.

Sweden vs Poland

23/06/21 12 noon

Predicted score 2-2 draw

Krestovsky Stadium

Amazingly, Sweden are top of this group and Poland are last. I expect this to be a draw, Sweden know a point will get them to the next round. Poland must win and go to four points in order to qualify.

Spain vs Slovakia

23/06/21 12 noon

Predicted score 2-1 Spain

Estadio de la Cartuja

Spain have two points from two games and most importantly they have not lost. A draw will not be enough for them unlike Slovakia. Spain are slow rolling thunder and their best is yet to come.

Group of death

Amazingly all the teams have an opportunity to move forward even Hungary with one point.

European Championships – Group F 2021/22
Team Pl W D L F A GD Pts
1 France 2 1 1 0 2 1 1 4
2 Germany 2 1 0 1 4 3 1 3
3 Portugal 2 1 0 1 5 4 1 3
4 Hungary 2 0 1 1 1 4 -3 1

France vs Portugal

23/06/21 3pm

Predicted score 3-2 Portugal

France are at the top of the table but just barely in this exciting group. In this clash of the last finals, the edge seems to be with France. But, I call an upset here and will favour a Portuguese win. Remember at this point Portugal are the leading goal scorers in this group.

Germany vs Hungary

23/06/21 3pm

Predicted score 3-1 Germany

Allianz arena

The German machine kicked in against Portugal and will continue against Hungary. The main weakness of Germany is their defence and Hungary can exploit this but they cannot win.
