Police was told that around 1pm, Lewis and a friend were at Tongs’ shop in Bagatelle, Diego Martin,  when they saw several children from the area walking into the track leading to the Falls in Forte Palmiste, Diego Martin.  They then decided to take a walk and follow them to have a smoke.

At around 2 pm, the rain began to fall heavily and everyone began to leave the area. However upon reaching a track, there was heavy flow of water running down the hill into the river making their path nearly impassable. The friend had difficulty crossing the path.

Lewis became afraid and refused to cross due to the rapidly rising waters. She turned back towards the direction from which they came from and was not seen or heard from since.

CPL Lavia and WPC Roberts of the West End Police Station, FSSO burgess along with the Fire Search and Rescue Unit, Santa Cruz and 2nd Lt Belfon of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force and party of officers  made checks in the surrounding areas.
