A MAN selling bar-b-que on Saturday night was shot and killed by bandits, a Malabar man was killed near a basketball court and a police officer died in a bike crash.
Police reported that around 9pm, officers responded to a report of a shooting at C’s Home-style Barbecue, at the corner of Main Road, Montrose and Claire Street.
A customer reported that around 8.47pm while awaiting to place his order, he saw two men, one armed with a black and silver firearm run inside the establishment. One pointed a gun at Ramnarace Nandoo, 52, and announced a robbery.
Nandoo attempted to close a steel and plexiglass door leading to the entrance when a loud explosion was heard.
Nandoo fell to the ground bleeding from a wound to the head.
Both suspects ran off in an easterly direction.
The district medical officer visited the scene ordered the removal of the body pending a post mortem at the Forensic Science Centre.
Nandoo lived at Bamboo Settlement, Valsayn.
Shooting in Arima
Police reported that around 2.15pm, Shaquille Hall, 27, of Malabar Extension Road, Malabar, Arima, was leaving a dwelling house on Pomegranate Avenue, Malabar, when he was approached by an unknown assailant.
The assailant exited a white Nissan Ad Wagon and fired several shots at Hall. Hall ran in a westerly direction along Pomegranate and turned South along Corallita Avenue where he fell into some nearby bushes near a basketball court.
The assailant escaped in the vehicle.
Road fatality in Central
Around 8.30pm, PC Ganga, who was attached to the Highway Patrol, Freeport, was riding his motorcycle north along the Southern Main Road, Cunupia, when in the vicinity of Alphonso Street, Pt Pleasant Park collided with a car and thrown from his bike, police reported.
He sustained injuries and was taken by medical personnel to the Chaguanas Health Facility andtransferred to Mt. Hope Hospital but passed away at 11.05pm.
PC Hercules of the Cunupia Police Station visited the scene.
