Chile and Peru both missed an ideal opportunity towards qualification to the quarterfinals during the encounter in Arlington. The game highlighted a major issue in Conmebol, where the teams just cannot score goals. They have combined to score four goals in 12 matches.
Alexis Sanchez squandered the best opportunity in the 16th minute that may have won the game. Chile was the more attacking team but failed to find the net. Peru had their moments but were still too defensive in the game.
Compared to the Euros the football lacks the intensity and quality of the European tournament. Hopefully, the games to come provide more excitement than this boring affair.
