CMO: 95% Not Fully Vaccinated in Parallel Healthcare

A total of 95.1% of patients in the parallel healthcare system were not fully vaccinated for Covid-19.

This according to Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Roshan Parasram at the virtual media conference of the Ministry of Health on Saturday.

He said, “That 95.1% of persons hospitalised since July 22 to September 22 amounted to 3,949 of 3,732 were not fully vaccinated.”

Dr Parasram said on Friday, ten additional cases of the Delta variant of concern was confirmed which bought to total number of cases to 42.

He said, “Nine of the ten cases had no travel history, five cases had positive contact with other positive cases while three cases had no contact but all cases were confirmed by the University of the West Indies by the Trinidad Public Health Laboratory (TPHL) and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) labs.”

In addition, the CMO said that the overall hospital occupancy for Trinidad was 32% while Tobago was at 34%.

He also gave a breakdown of the occupancy percentages at different facilities:

  • Caura Hospital – 20%
  • Couva Hospital – 25%
  • Augustus Long Hospital -87%
  • Arima General Hospital – 47%
  •  Scarborough Regional Hospital -34%
  • Point Fortin Hospital – 55%
  • St James – 84%
  • Tacarigua- 32%
