AN anti-littering campaign has been re-launched to educate the population on better waste disposal practices.

The “Chase Charlie Away” campaign popular in the 1980s was relaunched by the Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL).

The campaign caravan started its journey on Thursday at the Brian Lara Promenade.

“Be the solution, no pollution” is a tagline.

With the recent flooding, partly due to the dumping of garbage near watercourses, SWMCOL said persons are becoming more aware of how their actions affect the environment.

The company based their campaign on the character ‘Charlie’ who is described as “the ultimate litterbug” destroying clean and beautiful spaces.

The Chase Charlie Caravan will be moving to all 14 municipalities and Tobago to sensitise the public about littering in a more personal way.

List of sponsors include: Angostura, Persad’s, Bright Ideas, Magic Mist Services Ltd, Tiger Tanks, Nestle, Nu Iron, Wafiq Transport Limited, ORB Distributors, Construct Rite Services and Gosine Enterprises.
