Central Bank Employee Killed in Home Invasion

ONE bullet to the head killed Darren Nandlal, a financial examiner with the Central Bank.

He was killed by intruders who broke into his home on Thursday night at Orangefield Road, Carapichaima.

Reports are that two masked intruders managed to get into the home at around 7.10 pm with two men, one armed a gun, entering the downstairs apartment.

There they found Nandlal’s 80-year-old father-in-law and shouted at him to reveal where his daughter was.

Nandlal’s wife is a 35-year-old attorney.

According to police reports, the elderly father struggled with one of the intruders, while the armed intruder went upstairs.

While hearing a rattle on a door on the western side of the house, the woman upon checking observed the masked gunman.

She ran to her husband, who was inside a bedroom. 

The armed intruder made an attempt to enter that bedroom but Nandlal fought back pushing the door against him.

The intruder then fired one shot hitting Nandlal in the head.

He died at the scene.

No items were reported missing from the house.

  1. This must be another DANA SEETAHAL issue. Must be thoroughly even if it requires external help FBI etc. If it was a hit on his wife or the CB employee…we need to know. As a CB examiner he would possibly be exposed to financial misconduct at financial institutions in TT. Did he raised any red flags at any institutions or individuals possibly the big fish that has been identified by PM Manning and corroborated by Ms Taxshera a former finance minister.
