POLICE are investigating an incident in which a bandit died after being shot by a person with a registered firearm.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 9.10 pm Leela’s Bar, corner of Dhanpat Lane and the Piarco Old Road.
According to reports, two bandits stormed the bar announcing a hold-up.
One allegedly pointed a gun at patrons and fired shots in the air but a patron, the owner of a licenced gun retaliated and shot the two bandits.
One of the bandits was later identified as Kerdell Wint, 18.
The other was reportedly being treated at the Arima Health Facility up until Thursday.
Officers of the Northern Division Task Force and the Maloney CID responded.
A gun and ammunition believed to have been used by the bandit were seized by officers.
Investigations are being pursued by the police officers attached to the Maloney Police Station.
