A TRINIDAD attorney died in a fire along with her husband and two children in Barbados.

Barbados police are investigating the deaths of Anthony Lovell, his Trinidadian wife Allison Lovell, 46, and their two children Alexander, 10 and Abriel, 12.

They were found in one bedroom of their home at Breezy Hill, St Philip, on Monday morning after police received the report after 3.30 am, Bajan media reports stated.

Neighbours reported that they heard something like an explosion just before the fire.

Law enforcement authorities have appealed for public information that can assist them in their investigation.

In Facebook post, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley described the news of the four deaths as “tragic”.

Mottley is in Suriname attending the 43rd regular meeting of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government.

In a video statement she said, “I really want to say that my heart literally goes out to the extended family and I’m sure that all Barbadians do and that we would want to keep the extended family in their prayers.

“Death of young people and young children at such a tender age in such a tragic way really, really is not something that we should ever become accustomed to. And to that extent, therefore, I think that all of us across the nation will feel some sense of trauma upon learning of the news this morning.”

She said once the investigations are completed, she will better aware of what took place and asked for citizens to support the extended family members.

“At this stage, I think all of us just need to hold up each other and to hold up for the trauma that we feel collectively as a people. But hold up the family, extended family in particular, who must be fully and truly traumatized at the loss of their family,” Mottley said.
