RUSSIA – THE premises of Russia’s opposition leader have been raided by the country’s security forces.
CCTV video posted online shows power tools being used to open a door at Alexei Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation. Reports indicated that the forces seized laptops and other equipment.
Footage shows sparks flying as the door is forced open.
Navalny linked said the raid was due to his refusal to comply with a court order to delete a 2017 online film accusing Russia’s prime minister of corruption.
The 43-year-old opposition leader says he was dragged out of the office but was not detained.
His foundation was declared a “foreign agent” by the Russian justice ministry in October making it subject to more checks, the BBC is reporting.
Thursday’s raid came a day after Navalny condemned the forcible conscription of one of his allies to serve at a military bas in the Arctic.
