CONSUMERS in possession of Quaker Oats Granola Bars and WanaBana Applesauce pouches are being advised by the Ministry of Health to not consume the products.
On Wednesday, the ministry in a media release stated that the products were being recalled by its manufacturers in the US.
The recall for the granola bars is due to salmonella contamination in more than two dozen cereal bars and granola bars.
This is the third advisory issued by the Ministry of Health this month relating to the recall of food products.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US has also issued a recall of apple sauce pouches, produced by manufacturer WanaBana LLC, as a result of elevated lead levels.
The FDA in its statement identified three specific WanaBana products for recall: apple cinnamon fruit puree, Schnucks apple sauce pouches with cinnamon and Weis cinnamon apple sauce.
Lead is toxic to humans and can affect people of any age or health status.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Ministry of Health advises persons who may be in possession of the recalled products to discontinue use immediately.

The Ministry of Health stated it will continue to monitor the situation and advise the population as necessary.
On December 16, the ministry advised the population of the recall of Himalayan Pain Relief Tea packets. The recall, issued by WS Global, headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, was due to the presence of undeclared drug ingredients, Diclofenac and Dexamethasone.
And on December 12, the ministry advised that Eve Evaporated milk was being recalled by Brydens Trinidad and Tobago, the importer of the product, as a result of exposure to prolonged heat.
