POLICE arrest a teenager for marijuana trafficking on Wednesday.
A release by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated that a 16-year-old boy was arrested and a quantity of marijuana and cash seized by police officers during an anti-crime exercise in the Eastern Division.
During the exercise, a 16-year-old boy was observed by the officers to be acting in a suspicious manner.
A knapsack in his possession was checked and found to contain seven packets of marijuana weighing 5.5kg.
He was arrested for the possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
The exercise was supervised Sgt Harper and included officers of Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department, Eastern Division Task Force, and the Emergency Response Patrol.
Officers also executed a search warrant for firearms and ammunition at a house located along Rampersad Trace, Vega De Oropouche, Sangre Grande.
During the search, $28,700 cash was found and seized by Sgt Harper pending further enquiries subject to the Proceeds of Crime Act.
