THE US Embassy in Port-of-Spain is extending the validity period for the visa application processing fee.
In a release on Thursday, the US Embassy stated that this fee, also called the MRV fee payment, was normally valid for one year.
But due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the validity of the visa application processing fee has been extended to December 31, 2021.
The release stated, “With this extension, it means applicants who have been unable to schedule a visa appointment as a result of the suspension of routine consular operations during the Covid-19 pandemic, will be able to schedule and/or attend a visa appointment until December 31, 2021, using your already-paid fee.
“We continue to process visas that qualify for interview waivers, and are working diligently to restore routine visa operations as quickly and safely as possible while still complying with host government guidelines.
“Please continue to monitor the US Embassy website and social media outlets for information on when the embassy will return to routine visa operations.”
