President Receives First Poppy

PRESIDENT Paula-Mae Weekes has received the first poppy signifying the beginning of Trinidad and Tobago’s observance of Remembrance Day.

Traditionally, the president receives the first poppy.

The President’s Poppy was delivered by the Trinidad and Tobago Legion of the Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League a press release issued on Tuesday by her communications advisor stated.

The League is a member of the Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League whose  is committed to helping ex-Service men and women who served The Crown and their widows who are now in need.

Remembrance Day commemorates the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany which took effect on the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918 and so is observed annually on November 11 in honour of the fallen soldiers of World Wars I & II.
