800,000 J&J Vaccines for T&T

TRINIDAD and Tobago is in line to receive 800,000 one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines in August.

This was revealed by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley at a press conference on Saturday.

He said the Government has made a substantial payment to the African Medical Supplies Platform from where the vaccines will come.

 

He also said another shipment of  Sinopharm vaccines will be received next week.

Further, Dr Rowley said T&T will get vaccines from the administration of United States President Joe Biden and more from the COVAX facility.

He said the country was targeting vaccinating 60% to 70% of the population by mid-September.

The prime minister said the relaxation of the restriction on the borders will take place in the next four to six weeks.

And new curfew hours during weekends will be implemented.

He said new the curfew hours will be in effect from:

  • 7 pm on Friday to 5am Saturday;
  • 7 pm on Saturday to 5am Sunday; and
  • 7pm on Sunday to 5am Monday.
