MINISTER of Finance Colm Imbert says there are eight counterfeit Facebook profiles bearing his name.

In a release on Friday, he said the fake accounts are a bid to con individuals and potentially engage in identity theft.

He said these imposters aim to solicit money and personal information through phishing scams.

The matter has drawn serious concern and has been turned over to law enforcement authorities who are currently pursuing an in-depth investigation to unmask those responsible for these fraudulent acts, he said.

Minister Imbert urges the public to exercise caution and remain vigilant when interacting with profiles and accounts on social media.

He advised everyone to disregard and avoid responding to any friend requests, messages, or invitations they may receive from accounts that seem to represent him on platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger or other digital communication channels.
