SEVENTY  Trinidad and Tobago nationals will return home today (Thursday) and will be quarantined at the Debe Campus of the University of the West Indies.

This was revealed by Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram speaking at the Ministry of Health’s virtual news conference on Thursday morning.

He said the nationals will return home and the facility has been prepared to house them.

Dr Maryam Richards, the Principal Medical Officer Institutions in the Ministry of Health, at the virtual news conference on Wednesday said the  campus can keep up to 72 people in individual rooms.

She said a swab team had been set up by the South West Regional Health Authority to test the group when they arrive in Trinidad.

Some of the nationals were in Suriname for more that two months. They had gone to work in the refinery there and were unable to secure a flight back home before TT borders closed on March 23.

National Security Minister Stuart Young has given permission for the nationals to enter the country at their own expense.

Two week ago 33 TT nationals returned after spending time in Barbados.
