THE seven people who contracted the Delta variant of the Covid-19 virus and entered Trinidad and Tobago have recovered fully.
On Monday, Principal Medical Officer Dr Maryam Abdool-Richards said, “All seven persons are clinically well and have recovered.”
She was responding to questions asked by the media during the Ministry of Health’s virtual media conference.
On Saturday, the ministry confirmed its seventh case of the Delta variant of concern.
The presence of the Delta variant was confirmed via gene sequencing at the laboratory of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of the West Indies, the ministry stated.
And Dr Abdool-Richards also said there was no backlog with Covid-19 testing at the Trinidad Public Health Laboratory.
