A SOCIAL media war has begun in the United States following claims by Trinidad-born musical idol Nicki Minaj that she was aware of someone in Trinidad who became impotent and suffered from swollen testicles after being vaccinated against Covid-19.
She tweeted, “My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied.”
Minaj who is anti Covid-19 vaccination said she will eventually have to get one in order to tour and perform in other countries.
On Monday night, Minaj whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, decided to skip the 2021 Met Gala event due to the vaccination requirement.
It will be the first Met Gala, she has skipped in four consecutive years.
She told her millions of followers, she was still researching the vaccine and although she herself recently contracted the virus, if she gets vaccinated, it would not be because of the event.
Before her tweet on Trinidad, Minaj posted, “They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. If I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one.”
One fan tweeted in response that he had to get the vaccine for work to which Minaj replied that she too will have to eventually get vaccinated.
“I know babe. A lot of countries won’t let ppl work w/o the vaccine. I’d def recommend they get the vaccine. They have to feed their families. I’m sure I’ll b vaccinated as well cuz I have to go on tour, etc.”
Several persons have also lashed out at Minaj for her anti vaccination statements and Minaj retaliated against US media houses for not reporting the truth about her statements, she claims.
Up until 9am on Tuesday, the controversial conversation on Minaj’s official Twitter page continued.
