AFTER the completion of three out of 14 recounts requested following Local Government Elections on Monday, nothing has changed in San Fernando City Corporation and the Mayaro Rio Claro Regional Corporation.
This was stated in a release by the Elections and Boundaries Commission on Wednesday.
In Cocoyea/Tarouba district the results give the People’s National Movement (PNM) the win with 1,207 votes over the United National Congress (UNC) with 1,162. The UNC candidate Shane Samlal received one more vote.
In Marabella South/Vistabella the UNC’s Sasha Tricia Ali gets one more vote to tally 884 as opposed to 873 of the PNM’s candidate.
In Mayaro the PNM’s Ryan Stewart gets one less vote to move to 741 but wins the seat in front of the UNC’s Kristen Thaddeus Townsand on 720 with two fewer votes. The Progressive Empowerment Party ended with 43 votes in this district.
Recounts in 14 districts started on Tuesday.
