19 More Covid-19 Deaths in T&T, 926 New Cases

NINETEEN more people have died due to Covid-19 in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Ministry of Health in its latest update (#994) on Tuesday also reported 926 new cases.

The 19 deaths included:

  • 6 elderly men
  • 8 elderly women
  • 4 middle-aged men
  • 1 middle-aged woman

Nine out of the 19 had multiple comorbidities, while seven persons had only one comorbidity each while three had no known medical conditions.

Some of the comorbidities included diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, a history of strokes, kidney disease, heart disease, obesity, dementia and cancer.

Deaths today: 19

Active cases: 20,915

Deaths: 3,486

Total deaths by vaccination status as at February 3, 2022: 2,827 (not fully vaccinated), 216 (fully vaccinated), 390 prior to the vaccination programme.

Patients in hospital: 424

Total persons fully vaccinated: 695,612 

Total persons not fully vaccinated: 704,388 

Boosters administered: 116,690

Patients in the parallel healthcare system who were not fully vaccinated were 12,164 or 84.1%, while 2,301 or 15.9% were fully vaccinated based on data from July 22, 2021, to January 19, 2022.

For the year 2022:  

January: 535 deaths 

February 1: 8 deaths, 470 cases;

February 2: 11 deaths, 660 cases; 

February 3: 10 deaths, 638 cases; 

February 4: 15 deaths, 581 cases; 

February 5: 6 deaths, 867 cases; 

February 6: 6 deaths, 505 cases;

February 7: 7 deaths, 573 cases;

February 8: 19 deaths, 926 cases.
