TKR Signs First Indian Player in CPL

THE first Indian to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Pravin Tambe has been signed by the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR).

The 48-year-old spinner, who has also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL), was annocuned on Monday, during the final player draft of the 2020 tournament which is expected to run from August 18 to September 10 in Trinidad.

TKR also brought back Australian leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed who was part of their championship winning team in 2018.

Last month, New Zealand wicketkeeper/batsman Tim Seifert was chosen as the replacement for Denesh Ramdin who now plays with the St Kitts Nevis Patriots.

TKR also signed Zimbabwean batsman Sikandar Raza and replaced Australia’s Brad Hogg, who is no longer available for the 2020 season, with off-spinning all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz of Bangladesh.

Nineteen year old Miraz played in seven Test matches and made his One-Day International (ODI) and T20i debuts in the recent series against Sri Lanka.

Along with their overseas players, the Knight Riders retained the core of their local players for the upcoming competition.

TKR will be coached by New Zealand’s Brendan Mc Cullum.
