WARNER PARK – IT took a super over to finally hand Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) its first defeat of the 2019 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) on Tuesday.

It was the first time that the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots beat TKR at Warner Park and it was thanks to skipper Carlos Brathwaite who was named Player of the Match.

TKR batted first and posted 216/4 thanks largely to Lendl Simmon’s 90 from 45 balls that included nine fours and six sixes.

All the other batsmen who batted contributed – Mark Deyal (21), Colin Munro (28), Kieron Pollard (19), Darren Bravo (24*) and James Neesham (22*).

In their turn at the crease Evin Lewis continued his good form with the bat scoring 45 from 21 balls with three fours and five sixes.

But it was the Patriots’ captain Brathwaite who top scored with 64 from 30 balls that included six fours and four sixes.

Rayad Emrit played a cameo with 21 off 11 balls that took the Patriots to 216/7.

This meant the scores were tied and it was time for both teams to bat one over each.

Patriots batted first getting to 18 with two sixes and a four from Braithwaite who opened with Lewis. Neesham was the bowler for TKR.

Pollard and Bravo opened for TKR and Bravo was caught behind with no runs on the board. In came Simmons to the wicket but Pollard could not get away Brathwaite and TKR only mustered five runs.
