Amazon Warriors Get Better of Patriots

GUYANAN Amazon Warriors defeated St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by two wickets in the fourth match of the 2020 CPL on Wednesday.

Starting things off at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba for the Patriots was Chris Lynn and Evin Lewis who both got off to a good start with the bat.

Lynn however was caught by Chris Green on 16 runs while Lewis was stumped by wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran for 30.

Ben Dunk and captain Rayad Emrit were the only other players to make double figures as the Patriots only managed to put 127 runs on the board.

Warriors’ Keemo Paul took four wickets.

The openers failed to do much damage in the run chase but Shimron Hetmyer made a quick fire 71 off 44 balls to turn the match around.

They reached the target with three overs to spare.

Emrit was the pick of the bowlers with his three wickets for 31 runs.

Paul was named player of the match.

The next two CPL matches will be played at the same venue in Tarouba at 10 am and 5.30pm on Thursday (August 20).

The first game will see the Tridents playing against the St Lucia Zouks to be followed by Trinbago Knight Riders versus Jamaica Tallawahs.
