ST Lucia Zouks will play in the final of the Caribbean Premier League for the first time ever on Thursday.
They beat the Guyana Amazon Warriors by ten wickets at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad, on Tuesday evening.
Darren Sammy won the toss and put in the Warriors to bat. It was the correct decision.
Zouks bowled out the Warriors for 55 – the second lowest score in CPL history. The forerunner to the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), the Red Steel were dismissed for 52 in 2013.
When Zouks won in four-and-a-half overs, it secured the largest victory by balls remaining – 93 – in the CPL.
Sent in to bat, the Warriors never got going with only Chandrapaul Hemraj with 25 making any score of note. Nicholas Pooran, who was caught brilliantly by Mark Deyal, and Chris Green with 11 runs each were the only other batsmen to get into double figures.
Warriors had five ducks in their innings most notably Shimron Hetmyer who was bowled leaving alone to Scott Kuggeleijin .
Guyana were allout in 13.4 overs.
It took openers Rakeem Cornwall (32) and Mark Deyal (19) only 4.3 overs to reach their target.
Deyal for his performance on the field and his two wickets was awarded the Man of the Match.
The Zouks take on TKR at 10 am on Thursday at the same venue in the 2020 Hero CPL finals.
