THE Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has announced the appointment of Keithroy Halliday as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Halliday, the former General Manager of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA), will officially assume his role on November 1.
During his seven-year tenure at the BWA, Halliday was instrumental in transforming the organization, achieving financial stability and advancing its operations, a release by WASA stated on Friday.
“Mr Halliday advanced the BWA’s finances to a zero-budget entity,” WASA noted, highlighting his ability to cover operational expenses without external funding, except for major capital projects.
Halliday also successfully navigated a national crisis involving a compromised sewerage system, which posed significant health risks. Additionally, he led efforts to secure substantial grant funding for resiliency programs from the Green Climate Fund, the release stated.
Familiar with Trinidad and Tobago, Halliday previously spent a decade in the country’s telecommunications industry. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration, focusing on Intelligent Water Systems, and has academic credentials from Heriot Watt University and the University of South Florida.
WASA Chairman Ravi Nanga said, “Mr Halliday has an enviable track record of success and his mix of knowledge and experience will bring inspirational leadership to the continuing transformation of the Authority.”
