The United States government has donated 18 Mercury small boat engines valued at US$372,368 to the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG).
In a press release from the US Embassy in T&T on Tuesday, Chargé d’ Affaires Shante Moore emphasised that the partnership between the US and Trinidad and Tobago was of extreme importance and stated that the engines symbolized his country’s “continued commitment to partner with you to dismantle transnational criminal networks and counter illicit trafficking.”
National Security Minister Stuart Young also expressed his gratitude to the US.
The TTCG has a long history of collaboration with the US Coast Guard and has conducted numerous successful joint counter narcotics operations over the years, the Embassy added.
