Speakers included Opposition senators Jearlean John, Wade Mark and Damian Lyder and Members of Parliament David Lee and Saddam Hosein.

A UNC release stated, “The UNC’s participatory budgeting approach is diametrically opposite to the PNM’s dictatorial and “vaille-que-vaille” approach, in which they are totally out of touch with the harsh realities that our people face every day on the ground. The UNC’s policy has always been to uplift all in society, starting with the grassroots, making sure that no one is left behind.”

Based on the local government election results which the UNC won the majority vote, the party claims   Government has lost their legitimacy to govern.

“These Budget exercises are crucial for the UNC as the party forms its economic and social plans and policies for when we return to government. In the meanwhile, the UNC will continue to listen, to be the voice of the people, and to fight for the ordinary citizen’s inclusion and welfare under this illegitimate PNM Government,” the release stated.
