THE United National Congress (UNC) has a new general secretary and public relations officer (PRO).
On Monday, UNC’s political leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar announced the appointments during the party’s virtual meeting.
Taking up their new roles are Peter Kanhai as the general secretary and Dr Kirk Meighoo as PRO.
She thanked Member of Parliament for Oropouche West Davendranath Tancoo and Tabaquite’s MP Anita Haynes for their previous roles as general secretary and PRO respectively.
As the UNC continues its campaign for the upcoming Local Government by elections, the party’s new PRO and general secretary are expected to be at the forefront of the campaign.
Persad-Bissessar also made another public call to all those who may be willing to support the party to step forward.
She said, “The task of nation rebuilding is no small feat, and all hands-on deck are needed. Every citizen is guaranteed a seat at our table.”
