UNC Anti-Crime Talks Today

OPPOSITION LEADER Kamla Persad-Bissessar is organising a series of anti-crime town hall meetings starting at the La Joya Complex, Eastern Main Road, St Joseph from 6 pm on Monday.

A release on Sunday stated, “Crime affects everyone. Escalating crime in our beloved beleaguered country poses severe threats to businesses, the economy, and the social and cultural fabric of our society.

“Recognising the importance of engaging various stakeholders in the fight against crime, the Leader of Opposition, Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC is organising a series of Anti-Crime Town Hall meetings across Trinidad and Tobago.

“The objective is to foster a platform where people can unite, share their concerns, and collaboratively devise viable and inclusive solutions to combat the prevailing crime epidemic.

“We firmly believe that a united effort is necessary to address the challenges we face, and the general citizenry’s participation in these talks would significantly contribute to and enhance the collective wisdom necessary in crime fighting.”

Speakers include Professor Hubert Daisly, Dr Indira Rampersad, former police commissioner Gary Griffith, and Renee-Enriquez Rodriguez.

After the presenters, the floor will be open for public comments and suggestions, the release stated.

It stated, “We eagerly anticipate the possibility of working together to create a safe and secure environment for all.”
