TRINIDAD and Tobago and Venezuela have signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for the Dragon gas field.
This according to Minister of Energy and Energy Industries Stuart Young in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
He said he led a delegation to Caracas, Venezuela, to commence negotiations with an official team of PDVSA.
Young said the T&T team included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries Pennelope Bradshaw Niles, President of NGC Mark Loquan, Trinidad and Tobago’s Ambassador to Venezuela Retired Major General Edmund Dillon and other members from NGC’s executive.
Also present was Senior Vice President of Shell Trinidad and Tobago Eugene Okpere and other members of Shell Eugene Okpere.
Leading the team for PDVSA was President of PDVSA Pedro Rafael Tellechea who was supported by Vice Presidents of PDVSA and other key members of the company, Young said.
He said, “We executed a confidentiality agreement (Non-Disclosure Agreement) which governs the negotiations between the parties and the exchange of information as we progress the technical and commercial aspects of the planned development.”
And on January 24, Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said that the US Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) gave his country a licence to get gas from the Dragon gas field in Venezuela waters between the border of the two countries.
The Dragon field holds about 4.2 trillion cubic feet of reserves and project will see Shell as the operator sending the gas back to T&T where it will be turned into exportable liquefied natural gas (LNG).
