THE national infrastructure development agenda was a key topic discussed recently between Works Minister Jearlean John and British High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago Jon Dean.
In a media release on Monday, the Ministry of Works stated that Director of Infrastructure Exports UK (IEUK) Dean Purvis and Country Director at the United Kingdom’s Department for Business and Trade Giselle Roberts also attended the meeting.
The release stated, “The meeting explored opportunities for collaboration in support of Trinidad and Tobago’s infrastructure development agenda.”
John welcomed the engagement, noting that strategic international partnerships can play an important role in supporting Trinidad and Tobago’s development priorities. She also highlighted the importance of continued dialogue to identify opportunities that will deliver sustainable and impactful infrastructure outcomes for the country.
The meeting follows a similar diplomatic engagement last week, when John met with South Korean Ambassador Seijoong Kwon.
Those discussions focused on potential collaboration in several areas, including port modernisation and knowledge and technology exchange—particularly in smart water and sewage management systems—as well as opportunities for cross-cultural engagement.
“These discussions reflected the shared commitment of both countries to strengthening cooperation and supporting sustainable development in the near future,” the ministry stated.
